Let's get technical: VORTEC V6 262 4.3L rebuild.

 Engine rebuild begins.

Once the Jeep was dissasembled, the first thing to tackle was the engine. As title reads, it's a Chevy Vortec V6 262 4.3L. I mentioned in another post that previous owner did not like the stock Jeep engine. So, he did an engine swap to this Chevy one along with an Auto transmission and New Process Gear NP231 transfer case. Now it's time to take it apart and see what needs to be done...

As I don't know much about engine parts in English, I'll just put pictures and describe what was going on with it as best as I can. I apologise in advance if I write something terrible.

Heads didn't have any signs of damage. Valve seats were not the best, but nothing a little bit of fine grinding paste and a drill couldn't repair. Aside from that, everything looks in order.

Engine block in general look perfect. No signs of damage whatsoever. Cylinder bores had little rebarb but they will be machined to rectify any problem on bore surface. Engine block is standard, has never been machined. Everything is factory original.

Crankshaft was tested for any warpage in the connecting rod journals but no problem was found. Nevertheless we asked a professional to measure each journal with a micrometer and no problems were found either.

Pistons are perfect. Just needed cleaning. Piston rods and caps did not have any problems.

New set of gaskets, shells, piston rings, etc...

Assembly time.

After taking the engine block to a shop to be chemichaly washed and bore machined, it's momento to assemble and paint.

We decided to go for cylinder sleeves and use the same pistons to have everything standard. Here pistons have been installed along with new piston rings.

    New timing chain kit installed.

Time to apply a base for the paint.

Final paint. Blue's my favorite color and the Jeep will also be blue.

Engine ready to be installed on the chassis.

Thanks for reading.

Take care and stay safe.

May the Force be with you.
